Wind Tunnel Belt Case
A leading F1 Team contacted Quentor to discuss the possibility of developing a case to hold the ‘Rolling Road’ of their Wind Tunnel.
The ‘Rolling Road’ is in reality a giant steel belt which has a special abrasive coating that is used inside the Wind Tunnel during the testing procedure. The steel belts are routinely shipped back to the manufacturer in Europe to be re-surfaced. At £80,000 each and weighing in in excess of 500lbs it is essential that they are handled correctly.
The belts are wound around giant wooden bobbins by crane and then hoisted into our specially designed Flight Case. Each end of the case opens up completely using gas springs to assist the lifting process.
Our Cases proved to be a vast improvement on the wooden crates that were being used.
